5 Ways To Grow A New YouTube Channel
So it's important to know
that an influx of new viewers is gonna obviously make
a big difference in channel growth,
but there are some other factors at play
in terms of how those people are responding
to your content that is gonna make the difference
on if your channel actually grows or not.
And of course, I'm gonna break it down for you.
If a viewer can connect to the creator through the way that the creator communicates, through the humor that they have, through the way that they entertain, through how helpful they are or anything like that, through that connection, you're gonna be able to grow your channel because people are gonna say, "Hey, I like that person, they're relatable in some way," or, "I'm getting some type of value out of their personality, so I'm gonna subscribe. And that connection with a creator, it's a thing that's kind of underplayed, but it is extremely important here on YouTube.
This is where planning your content and actually having a content strategy really comes into play. When you're putting your content ideas together, what you wanna do is you actually wanna mark down next to the idea of what purpose that video is going to serve. For example, if it's something to actually grow the channel, then you might wanna say, okay, well this topic typically generates more subscribers and more views, therefore, I'm going to mark subscriber video next to that, because that's the purpose of this video to generate more subscribers. If it's a money video, then you can say, okay, well this one, I'm gonna mark it as a money video because I'm promoting something, therefore, this one is going into the money category, that's what this topic is about. If it's community building, then you can mark it for that, but the idea is to basically say, okay, every single piece of content that I'm putting out, this is exactly what this is intended for, and these specific pieces of content over the course of the next 30 days are gonna help me grow my channel.
If your thumbnails are not getting clicked on, if your thumbnails are not good, they're not generating that audience reaction, guess what? Your channel's not gonna grow. I hate to be the bearer of bad news here, but I'm just sayin' the facts, I'm just tellin' ya how it is. Inside of your analytics, YouTube gives you the information to let you know exactly how people are responding to your thumbnails, and if you're on the low end of the average, that tells you, hey, I've gotta go in here and start making some changes, or else, you're essentially sacrificing what it is that you're doing with making the video content because you're neglecting the thumbnails.
It's a whole puzzle, not just one piece. And this whole bad thumbnail problem gets scaled up in terms of it not helping you grow your channel because if you're putting out videos, and the thumbnails are not getting clicked on, and the titles are not getting clicked on, then YouTube is gonna say, okay, well, people aren't responding to this, so we're gonna stop showing it to people. And when that happens, you lose, you don't get views, you don't get subscribers, and your channel doesn't grow.
If somebody clicks on your video, and then they click out shortly after, then what that's doing is that's telling YouTube, hey, people are not into this content, people do not like to watch this content, and therefore, just like the thumbnails, YouTube is gonna stop showing it to people because when they show it to people, people leave. Instead, they're gonna do something that's better for them which is instead of showing your video, they're gonna show someone else's video because their video gets more clicks on their thumbnail, and people watch that video for longer periods of time once they click into it.
So just on those last two alone, if you're not focusing on trying to make those two better, then you're costing yourself growth on your channel. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that's how it works. Five, people engaging with your content also helps your channel grow. Here's why. Of course, all that stuff is being measured on the backend, but if people are adding you to playlists, then some of those playlists are discoverable and can help bring in new viewers. If people are sharing your content out onto Twitter, onto Facebook, onto LinkedIn, or wherever, that's also gonna bring in new viewers because of new people, those audiences of those people are going to see your content which is gonna bring in new viewers which can help your channel grow as well.
Learn More
Another thing that's gonna help your channel grow is simply being consistent, because when you are consistent, and you're constantly putting out content, what you're gonna do is you're going to learn a ton, because as you're putting out this content, what's gonna happen is you're gonna say hey, I put out this video and people did or did not respond to this, so, therefore, the next video that I make, I can make that decision, and you can start making those decisions and getting all that information a lot faster if you're putting out content on a consistent basis. People really underestimate consistency, but in reality, consistency is extremely important because of how much you learn by putting out videos on a regular basis.
Connecting to the viewer
If a viewer can connect to the creator through the way that the creator communicates, through the humor that they have, through the way that they entertain, through how helpful they are or anything like that, through that connection, you're gonna be able to grow your channel because people are gonna say, "Hey, I like that person, they're relatable in some way," or, "I'm getting some type of value out of their personality, so I'm gonna subscribe. And that connection with a creator, it's a thing that's kind of underplayed, but it is extremely important here on YouTube.
Good topic selection

When you're putting your content ideas together, what you wanna do is you actually wanna mark down next to the idea of what purpose that video is going to serve. People watching your videos for an extended period of time
If somebody clicks on your video, and then they click out shortly after, then what that's doing is that's telling YouTube, hey, people are not into this content, people do not like to watch this content, and therefore, just like the thumbnails, YouTube is gonna stop showing it to people because when they show it to people, people leave.
